Liquid Eyeliner

Hello again :)

I'm going to discuss eyeliner. I know this is a problem for girls as I have been asked the question so many times "What eyeliner do you use?" and "How do you put on your eyeliner so well?". Well I have answers to both questions :).

I have tried every eyeliner out there, you name it Ive bought it! Personally I prefer liquid eyeliner as it shapes my eyes better and doesnt smudge, if eyeliner smudges on me it just looks like a mess. But some people can pull off this look really well if they're goin for a rock chic look.

First of all, as you can probably see, I am a redhead with really pale skin. I have been advised in the past to wear brown eyeliner as it would enhance my features better and wouldnt be too harsh on my eyes so I have followed the advice given. Brown eyeliner is ok if you just want a subtle daytime natural look, but it's just not for me. I like to have dark eyliner and mascara that really bring out my eyes as I think they are my best feature. But I would definately say to try it out for yourself, you may like it better than the usual black eyeliner :).

Ok, like I said before, I've tried every eyeliner under the sun, so I'm not gonna bore you by listing and reviewing all of them, and to be honest I've gotten so many, I wouldnt know where to begin. So, I'll just review the three I like most :)

Right now I am wearing "Bourjous Liner Clubbing" and it is pretty good, it stays on for the most part of the day and goes on quite dark. Personally I dont have a problem with applying eyeliner no matter what the type of brush is, but this one is like a paint brush that paints the liner onto the lids. The first few times using it was a bit tricky and got very messy! But after some practice, it gets really easy to apply it fast and stylishly. I have this eyeliner in black and in brown. Sometimes I wear the brown for college and just hanging around the house, but I usually wear it in black. I got these eyeliners as a birthday present last year! So I am sorry but I don't know how much they are or where they were gotten.

The second eyeliner I will review is the "Gosh" black waterproof eyeliner. I absolutely adore this eyeliner. It's easy to apply, dries fast, lasts ALL day without fail and really is waterproof. I actually tested it one day , I applied it and threw water over my face, I even scrubbed my eyes with the water and when I stopped, the eyeliner was still perfect! The lengths I will go to to find the perfect eyeliner! The brush is stiffer than the "Bourjois" eyeliner, which makes it easier to use. The only bad thing I must say about this product is, if you have been using it for a good while the liquid starts to become flaky on the eyelids. But this only seems to happen after a month or two of me using it. I got this eyeliner in boots, they sell them basically in any chemist around for €6.99.

The final eyeliner I will review is "Essesnce" black liquid eyeliner. It is the BEST eyeliner I have found and is sooo cheap :D.
It is like the "Gosh" eyeliner but cheaper and it doesn't go flaky after a while either, it really is perfect! I get this eyeliner in a local chemist called "Sam McCauley's" and it costs only €1.99!!
I have put up a link of the "Essence" website with the eyeliners on the oage. They also do metallic and different coloured ones which is brilliant for people who love to go a bit fun and crazy with their make-up! :D

People ask me how I apply my eyeliner, I have even had to show people how I do it so I thought I would try to explain here. If this doesnt work, I may do a written tutorial about how I apply my eyeliner with pictures in the future.
Ok, first of all I do not close my eyes when applying my eyeliner, for me, that would just make my vision blurry and I would end up lining the top half of my lid! I have both of my eyes open and very quickly just brush the liner along the bottom of my eyelid, touching off the roots of my eyelashes. I dont always start from the inner corner of my eye, I only do that when going out or for an occasion. If its just daytime wear, I start the line where my eyelashes begin. I make the line thicker as I move out towards the edge of the eyelid. I dont move the liner to the outer corner of my eyelid but just above it as it makes my eyes look wider this way. Sometimes I flick the eyeliner upwards, this makes my eye look bigger also.

I am sorry I could not accompany this information with pictures as I have lost my charger for my camera! But I will be buying a new one soon.

I hope I have helped anyone with this blog..please send in some comments and I will answer anymore questions about eyeliner :).

Concealer! Really?

According to CosmopolitanUK 67% of guys wish the could use concealer, like i'm all for people being allowed to be who they are and staying true to themselves but is it just me or does the concealer seem a lil bit creepy and off putting o.O

Essence Colour & Go Nail Varnish

Essence – Colour & Go Nail Varnish

09 Get the Fever (Orange)

8/10

Essence is a inexpensive brand of cosmetics but do not let the price fool you when it comes to quality for this particular nail varnish. The orange colour comes out on your nails just as brightly as promised by the bottle. It is very easy to apply and dries quite quickly. The one and only fault with it is that it doesn't last particularly long on your nails and you may need to reapply it after a few days, other than that it is perfect. If applied well it does not tend to break off into blobs on your nails and only one coat is needed to get the promised colour but for optimum coverage two coats is advised.

Price: €1.25 and is available in many pharmacies and supermarkets.

I apologise in advance for any haters of toes, but my fingernails are too embarrassingly short to show, I bite them unfortunately :-(

Rimmel Stay Matt Review

Rimmel- Stay Matte Foundation
100-Ivory

6/10

As foundation goes, this one is good if you want a very natural look. It is surprisingly darker than one would expect for the lightest shade available. My skin tone is quite pale and my skin is neither dry nor oily. This foundation is good if you apply sparingly and will give u a very nice natural looking sun-kissed glow, but if you over-do it you will end up looking like an oompa loompa (sorry I don’t know how to spell it lol ). It is quite easy to apply but my skin begins to feel quite greasy after a few minutes. It apparently is meant to give you up to 12 hours natural shine control, this I definitely disagree with, along with the greasy feel to my skin it is also much shinier than normal.
The coverage with the make-up is not great you would get the same effect from a tinted moisturizer. Certainly not the foundation you would want if you wish to cover up pimples etc, but then again perfect for a natural look and if you have somewhat dry skin.

I cannot remember the exact price of this foundation but it was around €8 in Boots.

Below are three pictures one of the foundation and two of my face half bare and half with foundation, the left half of my face is without foundation. There’s not much of a difference! One picture is in natural light and the other is under a darker light.

Haha I apologise in advance for the awful state of the photos, my photo-taking abilities aren't exactly the best ;-)

Introduction to IvorySpectrum

Hello :)

I am quite new to this blogging eperience, but I thought I would give it a go as I think both me and Kate have a lot to offer as far as make-up tips, reviews and much more.

We have called ourselves "IvorySpectrum" .

The "Ivory" came from the idea that we both have pale skin, and on the make-up side of things, find it very difficult to find products that suit our skin tone. Problems I will also be facing in relation to make up is products for delicate and sensitive skin as this is also an issue of mine. This particular web page will be dealing with all issues relating to cosmetics and toiletries.
Later on we may have video blogs with make up and hair tutorials so watch this space!

The "Spectrum" refers to any other topics that will arise in our blogs. From politics to environmental issues and other debatable topics to giving advice on relationships, you name it, we'll have it. These issues will appear on other webpages that will all be linked to IvorySpectrum.
And dont be afraid to voice your opinion on any matters we discuss.

This being our first blog, we would love it if you could follow us and even ask us some questions so that we can discuss them as we may not know the full extent of problems surrounding make-up, etc. We will do our best to inform you as much as possible on related topics.

Also, if you have any constructive critisism we would like you to be honest and tell us anything we could change to improve our blog.

We hope you will enjoy our blogs and get the information you need as we know how hard it is to find a blog with almost everything you are looking for. Hopefully we can give this to you. :)

If you want to contact us, e-mail us at IvorySpectrum@gmail.com

Thank you and bye for now :)
